How Much Does a 3D Product Model Cost?
Calculate the real cost of an AI-generated 3D product model using generation Credits, review time, rework, optimization, and publishing costs.
The honest answer to “How much does a 3D product model cost?” is not one universal dollar figure. The total depends on how the model is created, how accurate it must be, how often it needs rework, and where it will be published.
For AI image-to-3D, separate the generation price from the production cost.
1. Generation cost
Neyvo3D uses Credits, and the selected Generation Catalog SKU shows its Credit cost before submission. As of the fact-check date, the seven public Single-View choices cost:
| Output choice | Credits |
|---|---|
| Basic Mesh | 10 |
| Fast Textured | 20 |
| Product Standard | 100 |
| Product HD | 120 |
| Product Ultra | 140 |
| PBR Standard | 120 |
| PBR Pro | 220 |
The current pricing page shows how many Credits each plan includes. Because plan prices and catalogs can change, calculate from the live page rather than copying an old per-model quote.
For planning:
generation cost per successful model = effective plan price ÷ plan Credits × SKU Credits
This is a budget estimate, not an invoice rule. Credit grants, subscription periods, and unused balances can change the effective result for a specific account.
2. Capture cost
If an existing catalog photo meets the requirements, capture cost may be close to zero. If the product needs a new shoot, include setup, lighting, sample handling, retouching, and file preparation.
The cheapest source image is not always the cheapest workflow. A weak image can increase failed reviews and rework.
3. Review and rework cost
Every single-image model needs human review because hidden surfaces are inferred. Budget time for:
- comparing the model with the real SKU;
- checking back, underside, thin parts, and materials;
- deciding whether a new photo is needed;
- validating the GLB;
- recording approval and version status.
If a product is transparent, reflective, highly asymmetric, or dimension-critical, the review cost may dominate the generation cost—or indicate that another production method is more appropriate.
4. Optimization and implementation cost
A model may need file-size optimization, texture adjustments, orientation fixes, or viewer integration. For a custom store, also include frontend implementation, hosting, analytics, fallbacks, accessibility, and cross-device testing.
Shopify's product media rules and Google's 3D model link rules show why “I have a GLB” is not the end of the work: each destination has its own limits and delivery requirements.
5. Platform and account cost
Do not confuse “adding a model has no extra fee” with “the commerce platform is free.” Amazon currently says there is no cost to add 3D and AR to a listing, while the same official page separately notes seller-account costs and eligibility requirements.
The same budgeting principle applies elsewhere: account fees, themes, apps, development, storage, or CDN traffic may exist outside the model-generation bill.
A catalog budgeting example
Suppose a catalog has 100 products and your pilot uses Product Standard at 100 Credits:
- Start with 10 representative SKUs, not all 100.
- Reserve 1,000 Credits for the first-pass generations.
- Measure the review-pass rate.
- Estimate how many products need another capture or a different method.
- Add publishing and QA hours.
- Expand only after the workflow and acceptance rate are known.
This produces a defensible budget because it uses your own catalog's difficulty and pass rate.
Compare methods by accepted output, not attempt price
When comparing AI generation, freelance modeling, a studio, scanning, or an internal 3D team, use:
cost per accepted model = all capture + generation + labor + rework + publishing cost ÷ approved models
A low price per attempt can be expensive if many results fail review. A higher-cost method can be economical when accuracy requirements are strict.
Frequently asked questions
Is AI image-to-3D free?
Some products offer trials. Neyvo3D currently grants eligible verified new accounts a one-time 100-Credit trial allowance. Trial access and download rights are described on the pricing page and may not cover every output tier.
Does a failed Neyvo3D generation consume Credits?
The current customer contract releases the reserved Credits after a technical failure. A completed model that does not meet a subjective business preference is different from a technical failure, so inspect the chosen SKU and input guidance before submission.
Should I quote a fixed price for an entire catalog?
Only after a representative pilot. Catalogs vary in material, geometry, source-photo quality, and destination requirements.
